The second-hand marketplace Users Share Displeasure Over Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
