Netflix Casts Spot-On Performer for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Season 3
Baroque Works is set to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t unfold until the next season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.
The platform declared this week that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Mr. 2. This character has the ability to morph into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve made contact with with their main hand. Escola, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that character re-envisioned as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag queen, in the live-action show, unlike the source material and animated series.
The new cast member will work alongside several other recently announced actors set to bring the organization to the screen, featuring head Mr. 0, played by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the cast as the ruler of the desert kingdom.
Although the role is a important part of Baroque Works, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering the next season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this signals a notable change in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal further changes to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the part. In addition to their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.
Netflix's live-action One Piece series is set to return for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
