US actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic television series like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles recently having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his family said in a announcement.

They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Television Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, playing a social organizer famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous well-known programs, including:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His film credits encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a six-member improv team known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"Finn guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
